How do you remove four pounds from a layering system and increase performance?
I was hoping for two. Honestly, four pounds surprised me; KUIU is definitely not light and fragile gear.
Ounces matter for climbing mountains, ask any professional bike racer how much they spend to save an ounce. Every ounce eats up kilowatts, the lighter your set up the better you will feel, especially over a 10-day hunt. This mentality dominates professional mountaineering and cycling. There is no reason ounces should not be just as important to mountain hunters. There is nothing smart about carrying a 90lb pack unless you have to.
The new KUIU system uses the most advanced fabric technologies on the planet. Add in clean designs and we have created a better performing and lighter weight system.
KUIU’s gear is developed without price targets. Most manufactures set a price target and build a product to meet the price. This dictates fabric, quality, designs, trims, production and performance. By developing without price targets, I am not restricted to what goes into KUIU’s products. This allows me to work with industry leaders in fabrics, trims, production and new technologies. KUIU’s products are introducing a new level of total performance.
Over a series of posts I will share some of the key technology partnerships and how they impact KUIU’s product. My goal is to help you better understand what goes into KUIU’s gear and why it may be important to you.
Four pounds should be important to anyone who hunts in the mountains.
