Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment on your favorite publications.  Your input was incredible and the post received the most comments to date.

Several of you mentioned forums, websites and blogs you highly recommend for advertising as well.  I have followed bowsite Big Game Forums for a longtime as well as advertised there with Sitka. I would like to know what else you recommend?

Your top 3 to 5 Sites would be super helpful for KUIU’s marketing plan.

Thank you again for your help!!

Jason

Jason here are a few I like to watch, read or that have good info to keep me up to speed.
I like Bowsite.com, Eders.com, Huntersfriend.com, ArcheryTalk.com, the pope & young club, Huntinfool.com, Monstermulies.com, Jayscottoutdoors.com & of course any specific manufacturers website that I either use their equipment, or that I want to know the specifics of as far as new equipment. I think signing up the websites that offer a newsletter or that give product updates is a great tool. Fish & game websites are great sources of info as well. not only for regs & state laws but to find guide lists as well.

In order of my visits for quality hunting gear; Bowsite, Alaska Outdoors, Backpacker, Monster Muley.

Now there are several other sites that have high volume, but may not be as geared directly to your product line. Part of your second tier marketing should probably hit those sites, because there are large masses that don’t know what really good gear is.

    • Jason Hairston

Thanks Scott, this is really helpful.

    Jason,

I first heard of your new venture several weeks ago while hunting Elk near the Little Wood River in Idaho.
Temperature extremes at that time of year are the norm and keeping comfortable, dry, and scent free is a trick.
I liked the direction Sitka was going, and am excited about the prospects for KUIU. It’s always been frustrating that stores like REI or Marmot Mountain do not carry the same quality gear in camouflage.
I’m currently in career transition and would like to talk to you about where you want to take KUIU, and where my skills might be of value and mutual benefit.

    Good Hunting!

    John

I mainly surf Backpackinglight but I also get on 24HourCampfire and Bowsite.

Backpackinglight doesn’t seem to have a bunch of ads (non really) but you could try and get them to review your gear. They don’t shy away from hunting stuff and are pretty good at keeping the intended use in mind in the review. They even did a review on a light weight backpacking rifle.

    • Jason Hairston

      Hi Ray,

I appreciate your input. That is a great idea regarding Backpacking light, a great fit for KUIU for sure. I will follow up with them and see about setting up a gear review. Thank you!

  13. Hunting Gear Blog

    Hello Jason,

I own a fairly busy hunting based website in BC. the site gets approx 3000+ unique visitors per month who are seeking out hunting gear reviews, primarily geared towards backpack hunters.

Check out the site and let me know if you’d like to work something out.
