In August of this past year Brendan Burns and I were able to hunt Dall Sheep and Mountain Caribou in the Southern Mackenzie Mountains of Northwest Territories with Nahanni Butte Outfitters.

What made this adventure special was the finality of this opportunity in the particular area we would be hunting.

In 2009, Parks Canada passed an act to expand the existing Nahanni National Park Reserve from about 4,700 square kilometers to over 30,000 square kilometers encompassing the entire greater Nahanni River watershed.

The unfortunate casualty of the park expansion was a significant portion of Nahanni Butte Outfitters hunting concession would no longer be available for hunting. Although they would be retaining some of their top Dall Sheep hunting ranges for future operation, approximately 80% of Nahanni Butte’s area would now be off limits to hunting forever.

Nahanni Butte was the most significantly affected operation, but they weren’t the only ones. Several of the surrounding outfitters, including South Nahanni Outfitters, Ram Head Outfitters, and NWT Outfitters also lost large portions of their hunting areas. In the end, the park expansion had nothing to do with Dall sheep, outfitting, or the careful use of the resource by hunters over the last 40 years. It was a broad, sweeping decision that left some of those with the deepest roots to the area the most affected.

These remote areas encompass some of the most historic and iconic Dall sheep hunting grounds in North America. Since the inception of outfitting in these concessions, more than two thousand hunters have successfully harvested Dall rams. The “who’s who” of sheep hunting have put down boot leather chasing sheep in these mountains.

Nahanni Butte Outfitters and their new sister operation NWT Outfitters is operated by Jim Lancaster and Clay Lancaster. They have been hunting the NWT for the past 19 seasons. In that time, they have helped clients take more than 600 Dall rams, along with countless mountain goat, mountain caribou, and moose.

We had planned this hunt several years ago when we found out the park expansion was final. It created a sense of urgency to see the area before it was gone. Since booking the hunt we had discussed being the last hunters in one of their favorite areas. As the clock ticked closer, this hunt took on a deeper sense of anticipation than most. We were grateful to be able to hunt it, and sad to know it would be the only time.

Our guides on this hunt were Jeff Baher and Brady Lough. Jeff had been working at NBO since he was a teenager, and Brady for the last 3 years. You could not ask for better guys to spend time with chasing sheep.

Photographer Paul Bride and Videographer Justin Majeczky came along to document this great adventure.

In the end we were able to take two great old rams on a hunt neither of us will ever forget.

We hope you enjoy this glimpse into a beautiful and cherished area that will never again be hunted.

One word describes that video and the experience that you two shared having to hunt a area that will never be hunted again! EPIC!! Hopefully one day Jason your kids will sit across a distant ridge and point over in that direction and tell there children “my dad was one of the last guys to hunt that mountain” truely a great experience just watching that and even though it shows only a small potion of you guys must have felt props to you both . Thank for the great video and congratulations on your success!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Eric.

  2. lynn

why do we allow our goverments to take our land away from us pretty sad deal.

    • Jason Hairston

I agree Lynn. That country is so remote it will probably never see a human being again. There would be no reason for anyone to go there without hunting.

    • Croc

Ask Ammon Bundy. If you challenge their theft, look what happens.

  3. Greg

Wow! Words cannot describe the video of your hunts. I am in awe of the terrain and vistas you all saw first hand. Thank you for sharing your experience with us! Congratulations to both of you! It was also great to see the level of respect and reverence you both paid to these two Mountain Monarchs.

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Greg. I appreciate your feed back and compliments.

  4. Mark

The gov’t isn’t taking it away, if anything the opposite. Perhaps one reason for expanding the park is to prevent mining, which besides also eliminating hunting would effectively preserve the wildlife habitat forever. I don’t think there’s too much sheep habitat which is what we should be concerned about.

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Mark for your perspective.

    • Ian

I agree with you about the mining and other exploitation of untouched areas, but there are better ways to preserve land that allow hunting and no vehicle encroachment, like wilderness areas. A national park, although a great idea for heavily used areas, like Yosemite and Rocky Mountain National Park, is not the way to go for remote wilderness. I grew up near one of the above parks and the elk herds are dangerously overpopulated because of the protection of the park. Just my two pennies.

  5. Colten

What an incredible place. Congrats on the success. Hope to see more videos in the future!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Colten.

  6. Jay Scott

Best video that KUIU has produced! I feel honored and privileged to have watched. Congrats!

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Jay! I hope you are doing well.

  7. Armosino

I cannot stop watching this Jason, AWESOME!
I had the absolute privilege to hunt Nahanni twice, taking great rams with Jeff Baher.
The Lancaster’s are top notch and will continue to find great rams for their clients for years to come in new country.
great to see you at the sheep show.
    tom Armosino

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Tom, it was good to see you as usual.

  8. Mike

Congratulations Jason and Brendan on taking a once in a lifetime Dall Sheep. What an epic adventure. Can you give a gear list breakdown between you and Brendan?

    • Jason Hairston

Brendon will email you his list.

  9. keith peter

Now that’s a classic hunt. Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us? Did you get a feel for how the outfitter feels about his new area? Are they getting an area with the same trophy potential? Do you know what drove the park expansion? Sad to think no one will be able to hunt there again and those animals will only be dieing of old age or predators. Thanks again Jason

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Peter.

  10. Ken Allen

The lancasters are good people. I hunted with Kawdy (about 60 miles south of Watson Lake Yukon by float plane) in 2007 and 2009 with Stan Lancaster when he owned it. Stan is Jims brother and Clays father. They are some of the hardest working people you will ever meet. What an awesome experience for you. I would love to see that country. Great to see it through your experience.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Ken.

  11. phillip campos

    amazing footage!!!!!

    thanks for sharing

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Phillip.

  12. Curt Cabrera

I agree with Jay…KUIU’s best ever film…and huge congrats to you and Brenden!

But in the end, so sad that no other hunters will be able to experience such an amazing place….such a shame…

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Curt!!

  13. Warren Woodcock

Excellent film. Congrats on two cranker rams.
Curious what tripods your team was using. I’ve tried Manfrotto, they are light, but not that stable when thing get windy.

Please say Hi to Shaun for me, sure had an awesome time in NZ last year.

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you for the compliments Warren.I ran a new Carbon Fiber Manfrotto on this hunt and really like it. There is always a trade off against weight and stability.

  14. Chad Weber

You guys should edit your hunts and produce a DVD of kuiu hunts, they are as good as anything out there. Really shows the gear in action, could really build up the hype on new products coming out.

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Chad for the recommendation. You will see more videos from KUIU.

  15. Warren Woodcock

Jason, which Carbon Fiber model of Manfrotto tripod/head did you use?
What led you to chose that one?
I still like my old aluminum Manfrotto, just thinking about an upgrade.

    • Jason Hairston

Manfrotto Befree Compact Traveling Tripod. I really like this tripod.

  16. JH

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you JH.

  17. Cameron Aycock

Jason, what rifle do you use on most of your sheep hunts? To me it looked like a Browning X-bolt. what I’m more curious about is the caliber, it looked like you almost turned that sheep inside out! Great shot!

    • Jason Hairston

I use a Boswell Custom Titanium Ultralight .300 WSM, shooting a 168gr. Nosler.

      • Cameron Aycock

Thanks! 300wsm is definitely a good choice for just about any animal. You should look into Barnes ammunition they make a 168gr round with a Nosler ballistic tip. Flys perfect everytime and hits like a tank.

        • Jason Hairston

          Thanks Cameron.

  18. Les

Stunning!! Can you give a gear list by chance? Thanks!,

    • Jason Hairston

Thanks Les. Email brendanb@kuiu.com for the gear list.

  19. Jerry Gowins

Wow. Just, wow. Congratulations on a great hunt/adventure!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Jerry.

  20. Dines

That was a great hunt, and very well filmed.

    Many greetings from Denmark.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Dines!

  21. Dave

Great video! Getting me excited about my Yukon Dall Sheep hunt in August 2016.

    • Jason Hairston

Let us know if you need any help on a gear list for your hunt.

  22. Bob Terwilliger

Absolutely awesome hunt! Thanks for sharing and congratulations to you and Brendan on some great rams!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Bob!!

  23. Don Hilton

    Jason and Brendan,

It’s so nice to see accurate “put em down shooting” great production video. Others should take note at the precise respect for the animal and making sure the shot is right or don’t shoot.

Thank you for sharing, very much enjoyed.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Don!!

  24. Nathan Saar

Congrats on 2 beautiful sheep! The video was really well done. I was fortunate enough to hunt dall sheep in August 2015 as well. We were hunting with South Nahanni Outfitters. We hunted the very south portion of their zone which is now also lost to the National park. We had a wonderful hunt in beautiful country and killed a nice ram on day 5! Take care.
P.S. Our kuiu clothing and gear worked flawlessly!

    • Jason Hairston

Thanks Nathan. Send us your photos for the KUIU album. album@kuiu.com

  25. John jones

That was awesome !Those two sheep where great old trophys!Keep pushing KUIU to new heights!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thanks John!

  26. Mark S

    Hi Jason,
I’m doing a Sheep, moose, caribou combo hunt with Arctic Red this September. I’ve got about 70% of my clothes and things together(mostly Kuiu). Wondering if you have a list of gear you’ve taken with you on some of these hunts to see what I’m missing and still need?

    • Jason Hairston

      Hi Mark,

Email Brendanb@kuiu.com for a gear list for your hunt. I am excited for your hunt.

  27. Michael Hart

I’ve been a bowhunter from the time I was 16 and mostly hunted whitetail in western Oklahoma. Starting looking into sheep hunting this past year and after this video, I have to say I’m hooked. I love the adventure of getting back to nature and preserving our wildlife habitat. Very sad about the expansion, glad to see that you all were able to pay tribute to Nahanni Butte like you did. Already started looking for Dall Sheep hunt for 2017. Thank you for your amazing video Mr. Hairston!!!

    • Jason Hairston

Let us know if we can help you with finding the right outfitter/guide for you hunt.

      • Michael Hart

I have to say that Kuiu has impressed me even more over the past two weeks. After getting my Colorado backcountry elk hunt set up I decided to gear up with Kuiu Verde from head to toe. After having trouble with the website I call you CS. Kindyl Duncan was my rep that I got that day and she went above and beyond to take care of my order. She also gave me some awesome advice as to what I needed to outfit myself with that wasn’t in my cart.
Having been in the business world for a while and having risen up the ranks of my company, it’s all been imperative that an employee know that “why” first of foremost of what they do.
Kindyl is a shining example that Kuiu is teaching the WHY to its employees.
Keep up the great work. You can a customer for life now.

  28. Vincent Lenoble

De belles images et de beaux paysages.
    Nice movie and beautifull landscapes

    • Jason Hairston

      Muchos Gracias!

  29. Derek Anderson

Man that makes me sad. I am relatively young and it is a goal of mine to get a grand slam. Sad they are taking this land and potential hunting opportunities away. It will make getting a slam that much harder as it will push guide prices up in areas that are still available.

Great video! Congrats on the success! Love your product. Take me along next time, I got young legs for packing!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Derek!

  30. Mike Metteauer

Super. All HUNTERS should take the 30 minutes and watch this video.. Amazing..Congratulations

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you MIke!!

  31. David Padilla

Loved it! It keeps the dream alive in me that one day I will have an opportunity to hunt these amazing animals in an equally amazing place!

    • Jason Hairston

      Dream big David!

  32. Scott Harris

What an incredible adventure. Thank you for sharing a glimpse into what appears to be a very special place. Did you run into any bears on this trip?

    • Jason Hairston

      No bears on this trip.

  33. Roberto Carrillo

Congrats on an awesome hunt! The land saved some of its best trophies for the last hunt. Well done.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Robert.

  34. Jim

Amazing hunt. Congratulations on two great rams. The work, respect and execution are a great example of what a hard earned hunt and harvest should look like – A great area, great guides & preparation and excellent shot execution. Well done. You have great products – keep up the good work.

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Jim, I appreciate it.

  35. Doug Stanton

Not a sheep hunter myself but WOW! Spectacular video on a dream hunt! Congrats! BTW, what size packs did you use and why?

    • Jason Hairston

We all ran Icon Pro 7200 packs. I use this size on all of my hunts over 7 days.

  36. MtnManiac

    WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you!!

  37. Jeff Hallgren

Beautiful scenery and hunt, keep doing what you do! I am on the downhill slide to 50 and hope to be able to hunt the great ram someday! Video like this keeps the dream alive!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Jeff!

  38. Lloyd Moe

    Jason and crew,
I’m sitting here working quietly on my 6th grade report cards, all the while your sheep hunt plays on my screen in front of me. Over and over. It’s sad to see all those future sheep hunts come to an end. Especially for me…I’m haunted by those Nahanni mountains.

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Loyd for the very kind words.

  39. ed duda

Jason, Outstanding sheep hunt..Quality animals, all partys involved my hats off too. Very respectful taking and congratulations amongst hunters and guides.. My opinion of one of the best hunt videos ever. I will be doing another goat/caribou hunt in BC in 2017. Searching for a outfitter now. If you guys have any in mind, I would be listening. I will email Brandon on pack list suggestions, seems I’m always packing heavy..Thanks again.

    • Jason Hairston

Ed email Brendan for a recommendation on Caribou. He will help you make the right choice.

  40. ben

what a great video, very well produced! I would love to see more hunt videos from Kuiu so i can live vicariously through you guys! Keep on doing what you’re doing!

    Cheers from Calgary, Alberta!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Ben.

  41. Mike King

Great Piece Guys! Hats off for preserving a wonderful experience and reminding us how fleeting and special this sport is. Places like NB are gems and the story along with the eclipse of events leading to this last hunt definitely remind us of opportunities lost and a renewed sense of smallness. We have little influence on these outcomes and like you and Brendan did on this hunt- we need to appreciate and enjoy them for how truly special they are! Bravo and my condolences to those who will never get to enjoy NB for what it was!

    • Jason Hairston

Hi Mike, I appreciate the comment and thoughts.

  42. Darin Austin

Congrats to you and Brendan for an amazing and expiring hunt of a life time. Thank you for sharing because I will never be able to hunt there now! I can only amagine how you guys felt having an experience which can never be experienced again in such an amazing and historic country. It’s sad that WE continue to let our public lands be taken from us. There is no more environmentally friendlier group of people than the TRUE hunter. I wish the best for you and KUIU and will continue to support.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Darin!

  43. Justin Wise

That is one of the most epic sheep hunting videos I have ever had the honor to watch. First class bunch of guides and hunters and what a couple of rams.

Congrats on the hunt and on being such classy hunters and conservationists. Awesome way to honor those sheep, that place and the outfitters who had the opportunity to guide there.

    Keep up the great work!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Justin!

  44. Mac Anderson

Congratulations on a stunning ram, I can see where this would be the hunt of a lifetime, regardless on how many spectacular hunts you have been on.

I congratulate all of the crew for a spectacular video. I have pretty much quit watching hunting videos as so many of them focus on the kills and not nearly enough on what it takes to get to the point of taking the shot. That to me, on any hunt I have been on is always the highlight. The process is higher than the outcome. The country that it occurred in is spectacular and while it is sad that it won’t be hunted any more hopefully through the preservation there will still be opportunities to enjoy it. Well done!

    • Jason Hairston

Hi Mac, I appreciate the kind words.

  45. Matt Gless

What an amazing video and experience for you guys. Thanks for sharing and showing dreams do come true.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thanks Matt.

  46. Jerry

Amazing. Congrats on having the resources and physical health to do this while you are young!!!!!!

Unfortunate that some feel the need to lock these places away forever. There is middle ground for everyone. You can stop mining and still allow common sense human activity. When you get a chance make your voices heard to protect the things that you love, they are not guaranteed to always be there!!!!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Jerry!!

  47. Pete Van Dyke

    Jason & Brendan,

I loved reading the story about your amazing Dall sheep hunt! I really enjoyed the video, you guys took it to another level with the hunt and video. How lucky you two were to be able document the LAST DALL sheep hunt in the park. I do have to say you two couldn’t have done it better. Two rams 12 year old rams! Congratulations doesn’t do it justice! Very well done.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you so much Pete.

  48. Steve Roberts

Awesome guys congrats I have a question for you is there any retail stores that I can look at the gear you make I don’t like to order stuff off line cause I can’t ever get my size right please let me know

    • Jason Hairston

      Hi Steve,

I do not sell KUIU at retailers. Our gear would be too expensive to do so with the advanced materials I use in our product line. You can learn more about this if you click on this link.

  49. Scott Y.

Jason – this was absolutely stunning. Sad that these lands will no longer be open to hunters. Thank you for sharing!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Scott.

  50. Terry Wright

Great video! A hunt of a life time. Sorry it will never be hunted again amazing country.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Terry.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thanks Greg. See you there.

  52. Dan Baker

Jason thanks for the shots of some awesome hunting grounds. Too bad it won’t be available in the future. This was better than watching the Outdoor Channel. I finally got to use some of my kuiu gear for winter hunting this year-really quality products. Already wore the warm weather stuff, now I can compliment you on both. Beats hell out of that S***a gear. I’ll be watching for more.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thanks Dan!!

  53. Greg Boyes

Superb video of your hunt and what a special place!.
Awesome functional apparel! I’m an old newbie to Kuiu and mostly just a waterfowler now with not much mountain left in these old legs. Thirty plus years ago a couple of friends started Hot Chilly”s performance long underwear and literally introduced the early whicking and layering system which I sold for years while living and hunting in Colorado.
Kuiu is the most functional hunting apparel that I’ve ever worn in my 50 years of hunting. I love your and the Kuiu story and how you take your products to market! I am so impressed with your attention to the details required in functional extreme hunting apparel!
Awesome, awesome job! I look forward to meeting you some day!

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Greg for all the kind words! I really appreciate it.

  54. Dr Joe Vigneri

The best sheep hunt video I have ever seen! Thanks for providing it to Kuiu subscribers. I am 74 years old and have a 3/4 slam. But my Dall is not anything like those Nahanni rams!

    • Jason Hairston

I really appreciate the compliments Dr. Vigneri.

  55. Craig Germond

Great video and two great rams. Thanks for sharing!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you so much Craig.

  56. David Knight

    Jason —
Thank you so much for sharing an awesome Dall sheep hunt! Glory to our God who has given us such tremendous beauty and the ability to enjoy it!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you David.

  57. Hyrum Facer

Jason what an awesome hunt! I’m hooked as well! I need to look into booking a hunt sometime an get after taking an epic fall sheep! Thanks for all you do and have done for the hunting industry and helping to preserve wildlife for the upcoming hunters in America. Keep up the awesome work!

    Hyrum Facer

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Hyrum. Let us know if you need help in finding a sheep hunt.

  58. Ryan Bonner

Jason that was an awesome hunt and beautiful country. It’s videos like this that’s going to inspire the younger generation to get off the couch and get out and hunt. Excellent work!!!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Ryan.

  59. Ryan Bonner

Was great meeting you at the store this last November.

    • Jason Hairston

It was nice to meet as well Ryan.

  60. John W. Rauner

This was the best filming I have ever seen. I am 76 years old and that was my dream since I was 15 .I was never able to do this hunt but I lived it through you filming.Thank you John.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you John.

  61. Chad Reel

    What a cool production!
As a fellow member of the obsessed sheep hunter Fraternity, I really appreciate this video. It gives those less fortunate than us the real feel of a sheep hunt.
Thanks Jason and hi to Brendan.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Chad!

  62. Brent

Absolutely amazing hunt! Thank you! It makes me want to climb a mountain!

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Brent.

  63. Dean Heintzelman

Jason — The pictures and video of this Dall Sheep hunt in the Canadian Northwest Territories by you and Brendan are memorable. The video and story told give respect to the animals and the land -( BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY ). Viewing this video awakens some memories I have of hunting sheep in the Yukon, Northern British Columbia and South-eastern British Columbia in 2004 and 2005. The guides-( Jeff & Brady )- and the men who captured everything on film-( Paul & Justin )- deserve our respect and admiration also. A ” GREAT VIDEO “. Thanks, Dean Heintzelman

    • Jason Hairston

Dean, thank you for the very nice compliments. I really appreciate it.

  64. Mike

Outstanding…I had a lump in my throat and was nearly moved to tears. It is a beautifully done video and it explains why we all hunt…it’s NOT a hobby, it really can be a spiritual experience. Which is why I buy your gear. Your approach to the sport, the equipment, the training and the videography is very progressive…Well Done! Thinking progressively for a minute…I really do feel bad for the Nahanni Outfitters but I’m also thrilled that the Nahanni area and those magnificent sheep will be preserved forever. Scientist will study those sheep and that info will benefit sheep hunters everywhere. And isn’t it awesome to know that our children and our grandchildren can return forever and experience that wonderful area and it will still look the same and still contain giant Sheep! Happy Hunting!

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Mike for the thoughtful comment.

  65. Tim Titus

Great hunt, great country, great guys and GREAT sheep. Thanks for putting this together so we could live it vicariously through you.

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Tim! I appreciate it.

  66. Alex from Calgary

You are indeed a lucky man to be able to come to my country and hunt this area. As a Canadian/Albertan, this type of hunt is next to impossible for us. Congratulations.

    Q for you:
Did you aim high on that ram or had you sighted your rifle for a 300 yard zero? That looked like a spine shot to me.

I also meant to ask you what type of Tripod you use. I couldn’t figure it out from the video. I am asking this question because you are the UL guru and I am sure is your tripod. Well done.

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Alex. I was not aiming high, it was an incredibly steep angle and not much wiggle room to be any lower with the rock outcropping he was standing on with out hitting it. The video angle does not show the the steepness of the shot very well. It hit right where I was hoping to hit him with a very steep exit in the off side top of the shoulder. I run a Manfrotto Carbon Fiber Tri-pod. It is the best I have found. It is not the lightest I have used but the best blend of stability and ease of use.

  67. Brandon Byington

That is a awesome video with a couple great old rams.
That broomed ram is a hammer!
Good work and thanks for building us great technical hunting gear.

    • Jason Hairston

Thank you Brandon. I appreciate it.

  68. Cameron Aycock

Jason, what determins the pattern of camo you choose to go with? I have an elk hunt is southern CO this September and am just trying to get any info I can to help me choose wether to go with the vias or verde camo. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’ve re watched this video about a dozen times now by the way, simply an amazing hunt and great experience.

    • Jason Hairston

They both work on similar principals, breaking up you human profile using contrast. Verde is the most versatile of the two patterns. Vias works well in more open country and in the rocks and above timberline. However I have run both in all types of environments and they are both great.

      • Cameron Aycock

Thank you very much I think I’ll go with the verde, September in Southern CO I hear is still pretty green.

        • Jason Hairston

          Great choice.

  69. Mike Duplan

The intrinsic value of hunting old rams is the essence of sheep hunting. Congrats to you guys on a great and unforgettable adventure. I hope to head north again to BC to hunt for an ancient stone ram that still haunts my dreams. It’s those dreams that fuel the fire and its that fire that keeps me alive.

    • Jason Hairston

      Thank you Mike!

  70. Robin

this is a really fun lesson so far to go, probably on the way to have to remember the skills of hunting and fishing, there is nothing to eat

  71. Erik

There is no question you are very much a bad ass backcountry hunter, who also puts his heart and soul into his company and his hunts. I’m most impressed and am devout fan of your clothing and packs. However, your badass title took a nick in seeing the use of a helicopter. I realize the country defines severe in a whole new vein, but a helicopter? I’ll never be able to chase Dall sheep due to budgetary reasons, but still very much enjoyed your video and solid shooting skills. It would appear Western Hunter aka: Nate Simmons has some new competition. Time to bring out the bows next time!! Nice work!

Thanks Erik for the kind words. I have a ton of respect for Nate and he is a good friend of mine, to be mentioned along with him is a very nice compliment. I do not control how the outfitter gets us into the country, helicopter or Supercub or 180. The NWT allows for Helicopters to access the country other areas do not. The area we were hunting is inaccessible with out a chopper unless you have weeks to hike in, which we did not. It did not take away from the experience, only enhanced it IMO, getting us into some incredible sheep country. I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and am so glad you enjoyed it.

1st and foremost ! Congrats to all involved with that hunt !! Somewhat interesting what took place with the area being taken over ?
Too bad , but as hunters these days we just have to be “Grateful” for what areas we have had the pleasure to hunt in the past and always keep in search of new areas. Here in Montana we have had similar things take place. But you just have to keep a positive look at things and push on ! My son and I took 2 great rams up in the Alaskan range in ’07. World Class Hunt and Country ( Many thanks to the Super Cub !) My two sons and I hunt hard and have put KUIU gear to the outer limits with success in more ways than one !! I will be Sheep Huntin in the Talkeetna range in August. Should prove to be a great hunt. Looking forward to the flight in and the drop. My photos with KUIU gear will be alive and well while in pursuit of a nice Ram. I’ll send some cool photos of the hunt and the RAM !! Take care , Good Luck Huntin ! Be Safe ! Sincerely, Jeff
